DIY pilot air mixture adjuster screw for mikuni

I didnt feel like waiting 3 weeks for the eBay adjuster screw so i:
Removed the pilot air mixture screw from the mikuni carb,
Drilled a 1/8 inch .125mm hole into it.
Took the idle adjuster screw off the old Sheng wey carb.
Melted some solder into the drilled hole in the pilot mixture screw
Then put the idle adjuster screw into it and solder it in place.
Worked out perfect, strong solder as both screws are brass

Sir, that is ingenious! I've had similar thoughts, but hadn't considered an old idle screw.

thanks! I was getting frustrated trying to fit in a flathead and see if Im turning anything..and just didnt want to take the time to remove the carb ever time to adjust that damn pilot! I originally tried soldering on a different screw and method only to have it break off inside! that was not fun trying to screw it out with needle nose pliers.

I also put markers on it..using a white out pen and auto touch up paint. I can tell exactly where it is for 1 whole turn and a half so it make my adjustments a breeze, whenever I played with it too much I can tell where to go back or how much I was off.

I've had the same struggles. I'm going to modify the PMS screw, and mark the screw and body.

Another tip I picked up from a forum member is to mark the carb settings and jet numbers on the bowl with a Sharpie. That helps a lot.
