JMHO I'm no pro.

I think it does matter, especially at speed. The front and back are usually different widths, even if it's the same height, the width is usually different.

Having used fronts as rears in the past, and a t least for street purposes, they pretty much suck completely.

While I'm not 100% sure why, it definatly makes a good bike handle terrible, I assume beyond diferent tread patterns, I suspect the constructin is different as well.

Short story long, Not recommended at all.

I know on some of the 50cc pit bikes the front and rear are the same.

What sizes are the tires?

He is saying he has a 12" front tread type tire. I don't think the tire is going to be wide enough. It should fit onto the rim, but you will be happier with a tire meant for rear use.

Here is a link to the site rules

Avoid vaque thread titles

When creating a new thread use an appropriately descriptive title. For example:

Good: How do you adjust the clutch cable on a 2005 LF200GY-2?
Good: Carburetor tuning instructions for LF200GY-5

Bad: clutch problems
Bad: bike won't start
