Templar X Rally Edition

Hi Everyone! I thought I'd start a thread to document the build of my Rally Edition Templar X. My goal for this build is to slowly transition the Templar X 250 into a capable adventure machine for day-trips and overnight camping adventures in North Carolina. I plan to also share camping pics and ride reports of my trips around NC.

So far, I've finished all of the bodywork changes I intend to make, as well as a few functional changes. Here's what I've done so far:

- Added handlebar guards
- Added CRF windshield
- Added CRF aluminum skid plate
- Added Cell phone mount
- Added USB charger for phone
- Removed decals from front fender, front headlight, side panels, rear fender

Thanks! I had to tilt the headlight assembly forward 1" so that I'd have plenty of room for my keys and cell phone. This also solved the problem of how the stock headlight on the Templar X points way too high.

Nice. The silver/grey graphics sure look excellent on that bike. The windshield seems right at home as well. Nice DENA sticker!

To install the skid plate, I used the stock skid plate as a template. I taped the old skid plate to the inside of the CRF 250 skid plate, and then I kept re-taping and moving it around until I found a mounting position that looked "stock."

Then I drilled 4 new mounting holes in the new skid plate, and then mounted it to the stock skid plate mounting holes. I also had to purchase longer bolts from Lowes so that I could use the stock mounts to attach the new skid plate.

Thanks! I picked up those stickers last time I was in AK, and after I removed the decals I thought I needed something to fill in all that black space. I really like how they turned out.

Wow man, that thing looks great!

It looks like you don't live too far away given that you have been traveling near Old Lake Jeannette Rd. Perhaps we could meet up for a ride sometime as I have a Hawk 250. I would also like to ask about registration in NC. Did you have any problems getting her registered? This is the one thing that has prevented me from considering the Templar X.

Hell yeah, I'd love to ride some time. I'm pretty busy until mid-June, but I'm free after that. I wonder if there are any other chinanet riders in NC area who might want to join? I'm dying to take the bike over the the Blue Ridge Parkway and see how she does.

As far as getting the Templar X titled in NC, I pretty much had no problem except for one thing. When the old lady at the DMV saw that it was "off-road" title, she seemed like she was getting ready to tell me "no," but then I explained that it's a street legal dirt bike and that it is able to go both on and off road. She asked the lady next to her, and thankfully the lady next to her agreed with me that it can be titled in NC. So, after that I had no problem, and I was able to get a title and a plate.
