ohio title already in my name

i purchased a new motorcycle in ohio and i live in tennessee. the dealer has just now mailed my title, but the title is already in my name on front of it. my question is: will i pay sales tax? i wouldnt be asking this if it were a title in someone else's name and i am the grantee but this title is already in my name.

More than likely you will have to pay the taxes. No problem with the title being in your name. That should make it much easier. You are just registering and titling it in Tennessee.

lol. i did not pay sales tax this morning. walked in with title and asked what do i need to do to get tags. she read title and said pay $48 for tags title registration, but she did walk title back to a closed office higher up came back to me without issue nor explain what she asked them. i gladly paid and walked out with my tags registration and title will be mailed in 3-4 weeks. i hope this doesnt get audited but i think i am in the clear now. they took it as if i moved to tn from ohio. lol bc there isnt a place on title showing what taxes were paid. tn does show taxes paid on tn titles. anyways i dont feel guilty one bit. when you order something online over state line you dont pay sales tax then.

i dont see how they could tell me any different since title was already in my name. yes the date of sale on title is suspicious, yes my TN address is below my name, but one claiming they had property in ohio as well as tennessee works. they dont state how much taxes paid on the title anywhere either. only thing is my address on the title already but that could just be a mailing address and not sure if that is possible with ohio title. to be truthful i think my clerk knew something was amiss bc i go in there all the time and she went to boss man to discuss something. wish i knew what they discussed . this wasnt planned just capitalism at its finest. lol
