Maryland be warned to pay

Maryland be warned prepare to pay close to $300 just to register and tag a $800 d0llar bike. Thats just ridiculous I might just end up trying to sell my bike. I'm not paying that a ridiculous price when the bike was only $819 If your wondering what kind of bike it is a vader 125

Yes imapdog it was only $819 plus $239 for S/H I got it from powersportsmax i guess it was on sell. I got the manufacturer certificate of origin today So i decided to call and find out what it would cost to register this bike and boy was I shocked Ok its actually $256.19 to title and register this bike but that's still too much in my opinion for an $800 bike And yes i was told everything was included tags reg title 6% sales tax. LoL i was expecting to pay less then a $100 Let be honest most of get china bike's why because we cheap yeah it aint gieco but we know how to save 15% or more on a bike

yeah, that is twice as high as tn as we have sales taxes too on all stuff.
since you have state income taxes too. tn doesnt.
that is not fair for maryland folks for sure..... buying high dollar item must be really crazy. does property assessor get his share of the bike too? like virginia?

As cheap of a guy I am who completely agrees with your anger, I would probably swallow my, well, anger (not pride in this case), and fork out the $. Why? Well, for $1300+ or - ish you have a street legal and registered brand new vehicle, on the road. If you really think of it, you are really only about $100 over what most of us would consider 'reasonable' but certain states like to price gouge nowadays (generally certain states who seemingly can't take in enough in taxes), and it would seem Maryland is in this bracket. But, yes, it seems quite outrageous for such a low-cost bike to have so many fees. But, again, probably about $100 'over' what would generally be considered reasonable fees, if you look at it like that. The sales tax is a one-time hit, so will be (at least should be)less to renew your tags next year.

Edit: DON'T let them add in the shipping cost, and double check that isn't included making the fees so darn much!

It's why I thinned my herd. My 09 Qlink XP200 ran me 125.00 this year. That's ridiculous even for CA. It was 46 bucks two years ago.

Depends on your state for insurance, well and registration too. I think it was around $200 to title and register my storm. Plate is $36 a year. Insurance is what kills us, around $400 a year for my storm and my 07 honda vtx 1300 cruiser. So $472 a year to ride maybe 6 months depending on the weather lol.

Progressive is the cheapest for Insurance, esp if you have an old bike as a primary, 3 bikes with my Voyager as primary is $65 a year.

In FLA we have a flat rate Fee of $100 for Registering ANY Motor Vehicle for the first time , in the State of Florida. It is a one time Fee and after that the yearly ( we do have a two year tag option as well ) tag renewal cost is reasonable ,also the Sales Tax is applicable the first time you Title it ,and we have a 7% total Sales Tax ,so that can be

a significant piece of change , haha ..

so yeah, they really stick it to you on the initial Titling /Registration /Tag purchase but after that it is reasonable, i suspect Maryland is using some variation of this Model

for it to be that high ,yeah it sucks but what ya gonna do lol.
