New XF200 owner in Phoenix

Howdy all! Picked up an XF200 last week, first bike, and glad I found these forums because I'm sure I'll need lots of advise and direction. Bike was in worst shape than I thought at time of purchase but it gives me an opportunity to learn maintenance and give everything a good look over. Bike is currently in pieces waiting for new brake pads, chain and oil filter. I'm sure as I start getting further into it, questions will arise. Only ride so far was on the trip home and that was a blast (horribly noisy brakes and all), can't wait to get the new parts installed and get going.

Welcome to here. You probably already know this, but the XF200's engine is very close to a Suzuki DR200 engine--closer to a Suzuki than most of us who have Hondoid engines are close to Honda (while similar to Honda, our engines share very little to be able to swap parts whereas your bike's engine can share many parts). You can purchase engine bits at Suzuki dealerships. One of our members, 2LZ, owns a '09 XF200 and will probably be your best advice go-to guy for your bike.

Thanks for the welcome. Bike is almost ready to ride again. New chain, oil change, new filter, sparkplug and changed the levers to adjustable units. Next up, new brakes and a caliper teardown and cleaning and we hit the road.

Nice bike. I had one in 2010 when it was almost new and I liked it a lot. Although the XF200 should be a very reliable bike, I recommend going to Chinese motorcycle parts online and buying a Haynes manual for the XF200/XF250. UK shipping is a little pricey, but the book is nice to have.
