will a 22mm tall intake work on 26mm mikuni?

the engine has 26mm and mikuni has 26mm. will a 22mm intake pipe work? or must match? i cant find a tall 26mm intake enough to clear starter. they do bolt up correctly.
left is stock and right in mikuni.

It'll run like crap unless they match up.

In addition, even with the right size intake going into the head, due to the size of the intake port, which is too small for the carburetor, it will mean that the intake won't have any port velocity, and it will run terribly. With a 125, I would think that anything bigger than a 22 or 24mm carb would be too big.
