I've actually researched it quite a bit. The CG engine was produced by Honda up until 2008, but it's still being produced by other countries. Here's the interesting part, it was only produced with the kick starter AND the electric start from 2001 to 2003, so now you know what time frame the bottom end came from. Also the head is a little bit of a mystery. I couldn't find any proof that Honda ever produced a CG engine larger than 125cc. So maybe the 229cc head is something that was actually Chinese designed. I kinda doubt it though and it does have a strange casting on the right side of the cooling fins, so it was probably borrowed from something else.
