That's really cool. If you run an o-ring chain. However for conventional chain, gear oil is good, chassis grease is better, and, in my opinion at least, Gulf canning wax combined with colloidal graphite is the best I've ever used...ARH

Really entertaining vid and informative. Enjoyed it!

Really surprised me the chain wax slung as much as it did. I wonder if he let it dry??? It's what I use and don't get the gunky mess.

I have a conventional chain on the Hawk, I clean it every few hundred miles with kerosene, wipe it off with show towel. Then I apply 80w90 gear oil, has worked really well. On my ZRX1100 with a x-ring chain, I use something called ACF-50, it is an aerospace chemical for anti corrosion and is aluminum safe and lubricates well for up to 500 mile span and attracts very little dirt.

I was wondering the same thing myself.

My personal favorite is Pro Honda white lithium dry lube. It goes on thin and wet but dries up into a film that does an amazing job of repelling water and doesn't attract much in the way of dust or dirt. It is the chain lube Honda recommends on their bikes with O/X ring chains, so it must be doing something right.

Kerosene and whatever the cheapest chain protection spray is at Walmart or wherever.. Just like the local Indian/Honda/Kawasaki/Suzuki dealership that services $50,000.00 cruisers and $9,000.00 MX bikes does every day..

I used some Poulan chainsaw oil once that stayed on so long I had to scrub the chain with kerosene just to put fresh on it, and this was on a bike sitting and riding outside 24/7 in the South East September-March..
