cdi with adjustable rev limit for 110's

Has anyone ran across one? the adjustable throttle is ok, but as my daughter found out on very smooth low resistance surfaces the slightest bit will get it hauling pretty good. She panicked and turned before i could hit the kill switch and rolled. She would have been fine but she tried to catch herself and broke her arm. If the cdi had an adjustable rev limit i could allow a bit more throttle to get it off the clutch threshold and be able to set a real speed limit. Ive looked a bit the last few days but haves found any with an adjustable rev limiter, any input would be appreciated.

if not i think i can make it work with an andurio, a gps sensor and a breaker but it would be a fail safe where it would kill the engine at a set speed.

Thanks, i'll look in to that units cdi and see if it can be used on the 110.

I have found another aftermarket cdi that has a limiter, waiting to hear back from them if they know if it would work with the chinese 110's or at least a pin out so i can see if i can make it work.

I just ebay.. the ones they have there are for the 6 pin cdi … not the ones on yours... BUT the one that baja used,... was not a cdi.. it was in tandem with the cdi system and the regular cdi like yours. check with a BAJA DEALER... GOOGLE A SUPPLIER … CHECK GOOGLE... IN CANADA IT IS … 1-877-321-4226... ALSO ONE IN B.C.

What about this? I don't know much about CDI's but this seems like it would work

That's the one i was looking at, i've contacted them and sent some pics to see what they think. They say it's compatible with 5 pin cdi's with the pigtail so it might be the one. Waiting for a response and i might try one.

I haven't had much luck finding the older baja rev limiter, just the newer combo unit which is $$$$. Its also a 6 pin so im trying to find a wire diagram to see what that pinout differences are and if i can just repin it.

also changing the gearing from 14/37 to 12/44, that should help with the low throttle take off so she doesn't get stuck all the time from the clutch not locking up. also will knock down the top speed a decent amount.

Let me know if it works out, I am getting my son a 110 taotao in a few weeks. I want to have it pretty well limited. I think a rev limiter makes a lot more sense then a throttle, maybe using them together would be ideal.

Yeah the throttle limit is not perfect. The issue that caused my daughter to break her arm was its set to just above a walking pace in grass, but on cement that little bit of throttle gets it moving with no resistance. She took off out of the garage instead of the backyard and it got going fast enough to roll when when made a sharp turn. Normally she panics and slams the brake when it gets going much more than a walking pace but i think she was getting too comfortable with it. The rev limiter would be a hard set speed limit once the engine hits it, top speed is a matter of gearing then. You don't want them bouncing off the limiter at full throttle so using both is a good idea.

Tboltusa said it should work, but they are not sure of how low the rev limiter can be set or if its low enough to be useful.

Ill let you know what i find for gears, the tao tao 110 b1 is 14/37 stock. i have a set of 12/42 coming. They have up to a 50 rear i believe.
