Mavila Cavalry in Peru

My Mavila is finally legal, got the plate and registration yesterday and went for a 300 km ride today. I did a motoman break-in on the way out of Lima, then jumped on the the Panamericana and headed south. The Mavila seems comfortable at about 90 kph, it looks like 105 kph (indicated) is the top end. I have an appointment Friday morning for the first of the included services, I'll post ride reports when I get on the road with this moto.

Can I ask a dumb question? Most people won't drive and I'd imagine much less ride when in foreign countries. Errr, what's it like?

I've been fortunate enough to travel many places in the world via a motorcycle, I'd put Lima on the top of my list as the most dangerous place to ride. I live close to the Panamericana Sur, if I'm headed south it's easy to get out of town heading north is miserable. I rarely ride in Lima, the rural areas aren't much better, it just seems to be a free for all, no rules. A year ago today, my riding partner, Ron, and I were forced off a narrow road in the Andes by a truck, Ron and his V-Strom actually went over a cliff, long story short, we ended up in Lima for almost two months while we waited for parts for Ron's V-Strom. All that said, I stay alert, hope for the best and ride defensively.
