Hawk 250 bent intake valve.

I just had put a new head on the bike due to a broken exhaust stud. Bike was running strong. Put about an hour and 30 miles on it when, while WOT, the bike started gurgling then died. Wouldn't restart due to the stuck open intake valve.

Anyway, got it back apart and now just wondering what might have caused this.
Wondering if I did something wrong or if it was an initial defect.
Any ideas?

I had the same thing happen on my new hawk 250. After about 8 miles the intake valve bent. I changed the head with a preassembled head and the exhaust valve retainer clip came off and that valve bent. I'm on my third head and knock on wood I am at 600+ miles. Im not sure if it was crap in the engine or I ran it too hard to soon.
