Hawk 250 2nd gear slippage

Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue or maybe its because my hawk is still pretty much brand new. When shifting into 2nd gear, after a few seconds, the motor slips back into neutral. Not all the time but sometimes. Just wondering if it's the cable that needs to be tightened or something else?

Do you have a lot of play in the clutch handle? Have you changed the oil? Make sure you are using a JATO spec oil without the friction modifiers in car oil. Use a motorcycle specific oil, rated for wet clutches, or Shell Rotella for diesel engines.

Just changed out new oil and using specific oil type for the motor that was mentioned in the manual. Clutch has been tightened up and has very little play now. I have not reached the break in point yet. It only has about 92 miles on it. So we shall see what happens over the next few days or weeks

My 2017 hawk did this when it was new, neutral was either impossible to find or it would randomly pop back into neutral from 2nd. I haven't noticed it do this in a few years, now that it has a few thousand miles on it it shifts more smoothly.

Maybe try taking the shift lever off and moving it down a tooth. It could be that your not getting good engagement into second gear.
