Been gone a while.....
Hi all, No....I haven't marooned CR...just been busier than a dung beetle at a sewage plant since about Jan 1.
Between work constraints, looking for and then jumping through all the extra hoops needed to buy a house in a short sale market, including having to spend my own money and labor to do repairs so THEY would sell it to ME....then planning and doing the move oursleves, there hasn't been much time for...well....anything else. It's not quite over yet.... We're still sleeping on the floor of an empty house in the city, stripping out the last of the garage and doing the final cleaning before our property manager gets involved to find us a tenant to rent our old place. This has been going on far to long. Nerves are frayed, Hot Pockets and a nuker have become our staples, but this weekend, minus a couple minor things next weekend, should finally do it. Been a long row to hoe............and we both feel very much like this, at this point. Anyway....I grew up in a one stoplight town....and as I've aged and the years passed, market forces, work and relationships have unfortunately, taken me closer and closer to the city.....and I'm just not wired that way. Our little house we've been in for 8 years is a nice, clean and sturdy little abode....and my particular street is a nice one with very old (some original) owners...but my general part of town is bad. My closest major grocery store is La Superior and advertizes everything in Spanish, we're surrounded by Section 8 housing and all the crime and riff raff that comes with it. Not a single pair of pants you see on anyone covers their butt and hoodies and Raider parka's are standard dress....in 100' weather. Needless to say....what used to be a nice, middle class neighborhood 30 years ago has badly degraded and isn't slated to get better. Time to go.....not just the area....time to go 'home'....where I belong. So, Mrs. 2LZ and I decided to shut off the TV and all the bad news. We sat down and made a plan for our 'personal economy'...and started hacking at it, ruthlessly. Hard work, a tad of luck, some great advise from some very smart people....and a number of blessings from "Upstairs"........and we're now very, very close. So....what used to be this..... Is now this............home. Where I belong. I'm now hoping, after a little while of getting our new place up to par, we can finally find some time to ride. Thanks for listening.

Wow! Congratulations! That looks like an excellent new location. I can appreciate your past, as I remember the flashing red light at the four way stop in town when I grew up. I live in a city now, but it has a low population and it's really spread out. I have no interest in big city life.
Sorry to hear about the Hot Pockets.

Now that looks like a cozy homestead! Growing up on a farm I miss having space (and tractors!). Congrats on the new digs!

Beautiful. Tranquil. Looks like a good base for the Victorys.
I'm also in the process of a move. Tomorrow and SUnday I should be done. Still in Washington though  . Next move I promise will be home to California. I'm a Californian living in exile.

Thanks for checking in, 2LZ! I'm glad you are moving to a safer, more rural home.

I have only started the moving process. The new place looks like a quiet home.

URBAN California can be hell with good weather  .
RURAL California, or even better the foothills and mountains, can be WONDERFUL. As good a place to live as it gets on Earth . Speaking for myself at least. I'd rather live in Fairbanks, AK than LA, CA. But I'd rather live in Sonora, SLO, or many other open areas of California than the (also wonderful, beautiful, and all that) Northwest. I miss the near perfect weather. When I go back it will be SLO County.

Good luck! I am certainly not a city boy, and love the country. I was in NYC for work last week and felt so claustrophobic and couldn't wait to get out of there. I am lucky to live in a very nice neighborhood now; it is a great community of people that trust and respect each other.
The new place looks amazing, enjoy it. I like the porch. I could definitely live off hot pockets and Ramen for a while if it meant some peace and serenity.

Thanks guys!
Well, last weekend was another crazy one....but I told my father-in-law (who thinks he's in charge of the whole ordeal) that Sunday....for the first time in a month, will be a day of rest for us....and it was and well-needed. Now we just have to 'mop our way out' of the rental and ride the Vics to the new place and it's done. Mrs 2LZ wanted to have a final ride to the new house from the old one, so the bikes are last to go. Sure felt good to sleep in my own bed Saturday night and not be in a sleeping bag, for a change. Changed my 'location' here also. Guess it's official! Now....if I can just find my toolbox. :?

I am so sympathetic!
I'm in boxes myself. The new house has not closed yet and the old one is sold so I'm in limbo! I'm partly in the new place. The garage is a disaster and the bikes are in there but I doubt I could get to any of them anyways. Congratulations on your Victory victory ride. I love Volcano. Anyplace on 49 is good for me! Strange name though. Why not 'Earthquake' or 'Tornado' or 'Tsunami' Just having fun. Congratulations again. I'm jealous.
