Zongshen vs Bashan vs Hensim...

Hello all. Looking to get a 250 Enduro. Seems like Orion Powersports has pretty decent prices and offer fully assembled bikes. One thing I'm noticing though is that many bikes have different engines noted, Zongshen, Bashan, and Hensim. I can't seem to find anything that pits these engines against each other. Anyone know if there are differences?

The OHC, and true 250cc, and 6 speed Chinese bikes are getting more common. To me, some of these features would be as important, or more important than the brand of the motor. That being said, from what I understand Zongshen is probably the one with the best reputation. I thought that Bashan was the bike manufacturer, and the other brand, I haven't heard of.

Right, there are a few bikes on Orion with different engine specs...

TECHNICAL DATA:

ENGINE TYPE
249cc Zongshen 4-stroke single cylinder air cooled, Counterbalanced Engine

or...

TECHNICAL DATA:

ENGINE TYPE
Hensim 229CC, 4-stroke single cylinder air cooled (COUNTERBALANCE ENGINE)

or...

TECHNICAL DATA:

ENGINE TYPE
Bashan 229CC, 4-stroke single cylinder air cooled

Guessing the third one is an older non counter balanced version. Also just noticed the Hensim is noted as 229 cc.

Right, a little more digging around, the 249cc 6-speed looks to be the engine I want, like the Tempar X. Now to research how to plate that thing in Missouri.

The Templar is a nice bike. Though it not technically street legal just like the Hawk 250, Most states will register and tag them. If you run into any issues, there always the Lifan KPX which is street legal. That is reflected in the price. They have to jump through a bunch of hops with the EPA t get them certified.

Thanks! That is a nice bike (Lifan KPX) but I'm trying to stay under $2,300 all in with shipping.

Well hopefully you can get the Templar registered. Good luck.

As Jerry says, it's a matter of where you live. Here in CA the options are few.

It's all good Krush. No luck involved. Inspect that paperwork, and contact the vendor if the MCO doesn't show "motorcycle" for vehicle type. Be kind and patient if you want results. People respond to that!

Take your time on the assembly. A drop of blue loctite on nearly everything AFTER you know it is where you want it, but don't overtighten. Get a can of silicon lube spray and douse that throttle cable housing (and try to route it with minimal kinks or bends by the triple clamp and by the tank). Try various positions for controls (levers) and cables until they fit and have the best routing.

Loctite needs to be on the reflectors too. ZIP TIE cables away from heat and mud (under the tail) as needed.
