AC or DC (Not Me, the CDI)

How do I determine if my bike has an ac or dc CDI unit? it has a 163FML vertical engine. The plug on the stock CDI unit has the squared off plug. I'm also looking to upgrade the coil. I hope to upgrade the exhaust eventually. That stock header looks very small for a 200cc engine. The bike has a PZ30 carb if this helps you any.

squared off plug= CG125 based OHV
The best way to find out is shoot a photo & Google it's brand/ specs etc...
cheap clone = Fixed Angle ac CDI | Standard clone =Advancing Angle ac Cdi | DC CDi is larger & sometimes had a extra red wire
chinese term AC:交流 DC:直流

It is a small unit and has two plugs. One with 2 wires, the other has 4. The dimensions of the cdi unit are 59mm long, 33mm wide and 21mm in height.

 "fool-proof" direct swap AC-CDi
Improve ~3.x ouput / No coil change needed

First of all, I'm glad the confusion concerns your motorcycle, and not yourself, WJ! I'm pretty sure you have the generic, Chinese, Hondoid CDI unit, widely available on eBay. However, if you can post a photograph, we will know for sure.

Is there a rectifier? Everything on one side of the rectifier DC and then the other side is all AC, the CDI would be on the AC side since everything on that side is AC and only thing that is DC is the battery?

I thank you all for your replys. I got a response from Kinroad. They actually confirmed it is an AC CDI. They offered me an owners manual download but I want a service manual, I guess just like everyone else....LOL

You have me at an disadvantage, you can read Chinese as well as English and maybe a few other languages. I have no understanding of Chinese. Is there a translate button somewhere on the webpage?

The bore and stroke on the 163FML is almost square 63.5 x 62.2. The Honda engines are oversquare. I can't tell you much more than that.
