Tt250 - can foot pegs be moved backwards?

Hey all - was offroad on the bike this weekend. (Suspension is way better than expected!). The ergonomics on the bike when standing up on an incline are so bad it’s dangerous. The pegs are so far forward it’s hard to get in a position where I’m not being pulled back.

One step in resolving the ergos is larger pegs, and getting them set back if possible.

Any advice for a non-welder? I can find wider pegs.

I have seen such kits for popular street bikes. You may be able to adapt a kit designed for a different bike.

Are you riding with the balls of your feet on the pegs... vs. arch?

Yes. On the balls.

When I sit on the bike, in the forward most position, the pegs are even with my legs. When I sit on another bike, the pegs sit about 3-4 inch back, which is much better for me. When standing, there’s not much room to move forward in the “cockpit”. And if I try to get my chest over the bars on an incline, the scoops/shroud bolted to the tank prevents me from moving my hips forward. They stick out about 3”, so when I move forward, they just spread the knees and slice into the thighs.

The end result is that there is not much forward slant in the body position on an incline, so you’re pulled back, which means you use your arms to pull/hold yourself forward, instead of using them to control the bike.

figured, just thought it was worth asking. From the pics the pegs do seem a bit forward, I don't think you'll be able to move them 3-4" back though without some serious re-engineering.

Good luck.. maybe there's some rear-set that could be adapted.

I've found on some bikes that I need to lean forward bending at the waist to get the front end properly loaded rather than trying to get my entire body leaning forward.. that said getting my chest over the bars probably puts 100# on the front end.. ;-)

Ha. Well, you’ll definitely have that front wheel properly planted.

I ordered some cheap billet pegs. (Wider.)
I’m going to see if I can raise and rotate the bars back a little. Might buy an inch.
If I can heat up and sort of bend down those tank shrouds. That would make a big difference, too.

I’ll try bending at the waist, too! Good suggestion.

If you need some more weight, they have vests that hold metal weights... although that might be a bit of an injury risk ;-)

Good luck on finding the right fit/technique..
