hensim 70cc atv no start

I am looking for suggestions to troubleshoot my son's atv. It will still not start
after replacing the starter and solenoid. Nothing happens when I push the button. Yes the battery is charged showing 9v. my feeling is that the problem is somewhere in the ignition. There is no manual available for this thing. What is the electrical part directly behind the solenoid? It has two wires on it, going to the solenoid and is round in shape, about the size of a 50 cent piece.

Do you have any pics of this "50 cent piece" so I could possibly I.D. it. You said the battery had only 9 volts, most are either 6 or 12 volt. Unless this brand did something new and non-standard then you have a possible problem with the battery.

I second the battery comment. Most new vehicles are 12v.

Is there any fuses?

I have serviced a few hensim 70's and they have a 12v battery in them. As for the round thing you are talking about it sounds like the remote kill switch unit. If this is a newer model hensim and it has this feature then i would check that kill switch unit for a loose wire or a short.

9 volts on a battery that small equals dead, Give it a slow charge and try it.

i tracked down power thru the on/off switch and it stops at the start button. there is no power up thru the kill switch, trying to start it. i figured out that it is the coil I was questioning.
as far as the battery goes, its the size of a garden tractor battery. I assume that its a 6v battery and my ammeter shows that its over charged. there are no markings on the battery indicating voltage. I will repost after I get the new harness, this will take a couple of weeks.

Battery is most likely a 12volt. You need to start with getting a new battery as mentioned above.

6volt systems have pretty much been out since the early 80s.

who brought the cool guy?

Since most of you are helpful enough to come to the same conclusion, I will try the new battery, even though I get nothing with the charger on 75a start.

Have you checked the main fuse?

i am not sure were it is. there's a buss fuse type near the battery (in line), but in the past it ran without it connected. I took it out to see what it's purpose was and nothing changed, I did this right after I bought it. right now I am waiting for my new 12v battery to charge up and install it.

I know on my bike that you need that fuse for anything to work, but the atv may be wired diferently.

The fuse isn't expensive and sometimes they battery is used as a buffer for the charging system. I would replace that too.
