HomeBrew Skid Plate

Made it myself out of a cutting board, some simple power tools, a little creativity, some hardware, and a can-do attitude.

I chose a black cutting board as it better suits my Hawk. I started making a rough template, but went rogue as I was losing my patience with the cardboard. The heating of the plastic took a while. It also tested my patience, but showed me the errors of my ways.

For a first edition, I'm pretty happy with the results.

Thanks Aussie and Freddy!

In addition to a couple of days for research, the project took me about 2 weekends to complete. I was going to use some acetone to delete my sharpie lines, but they are melted I to the plastic. I thought about painting it, too, but I decided it would be a waste. The board is black which I matches the bike and the marker lines aren't that noticable. Besides, even if not the perfect image in my head, I'm still proud of the outcome and that I made it myself.

Couple more images of the sides and the bike as a whole.
