new Hawk dlx 250 efi cuts out at 6000 rpms
so I bought a Hawk got it shipped
and put it together , drive it down the block and at 6009 rpms the engine cuts out, I have to pop the clutch and feather the throttle to keep her going, it feels like if you left the choke on ,on a warm bike but it's electronic choke,every thread I've read had to do with carbureted engines mines got efi , any clue, and go..... |

ok maybe someone could tell me what tittle the thread is under that might have explained the remedy to my problem then? I've looked everywhere it's all about the carbed version

It is difficult to say what your problem is, I have read that with this type of problem guys can disconnect the battery for a few minutes and this can reset the EFI, the other story would be the rev limiter but this is set nearer 9000 RPM and would not allow you to exceed that RPM but would not cut out the engine. What about your fuel flow, there could be a restriction from the tank to the fuel pump which could cause the problem you are experiencing.

Just a thought here have you verified that your throttle opens fully? It’s easy to do, open the throttle fully and reach down to see if you can open it more by hand. Just another thought is my bike same as yours came with some real rotten nasty fuel in it which I drain out before first start. Thinking out loud…

One more thing while I’m thinking about your problem, is I adjusted the valves before the first start. Mine were very tight. Just another thought…

I agree. Correct Valve adjustment will fix lots of issues.

I did forget to adjust the valves , well to say ii had to wait for feeler gauges to be delivered , but of Subject for 2 seconds.... WOW this forum is amazing the amount of pertinent information on here is unbelievable and unmatchedwell done, I'm happy to have found it and am ,just wow.

Wolfman, did you ever get this problem straightened out? I'm curious as to what caused your issue. I was leary when they put F.I. on the hawk and the price stayed reasonable. I was curious of just how good can a budget F.I. bike be. But from what I see on youtube the DLX Hawk has the Delphi control Module which is a good thing. Anyway enough rambling, I'm hoping yours is something simple like what was suggested.

Yeah I'm curious if you ever got this problem fixed this is the same exact problem I'm having right now I'm also having trouble finding answers I understand how frustrating it is but you do have to be patient
