Taotao B110 Starter Keeps Blowing

I have a taotao b110 put a brand new starter in. It will be good for like a dozen starts and then startee is fried. Bought a new ome off amazon, fine again for another dozen starts and fried again. Any idea??

I just went through this with my Tao Tao 110. Don't buy the cheap starters. Junk. They are not potted or wound properly. This was my first replacement after a dozen starts.

There is no potting on the windings and the windings were loose. Hence, the bait casting birds nest.

Avoid Amazon for the starters. I got my last one at vmcchineseparts.com and it has been perfect. I pulled the cover off the new starter motor and found it to be potted with the correct epoxy. Potting means it won't look like that one above.

I was inquiring to which one he got as the one on the site he recommended seem to be around the same price as the failed Amazon ones I got. I just wanted to make sure I was getting the one he had a better experience with.

I’ve been working split shifts this week so slow to respond.

VMC only has one starter for the TaoTao 110, top mount 3 bolt. Shipping time was less than a week. It’s been in my grandson’s ATV since early July and hasn’t missed a beat.
