Pitster Pro: California Dreaming??!

Haven't looked over the CARB certified bikes lately, but checked out the lists today. Yes, these 2020 model Pitster Pro bikes are California CARB certified, but only a crappy Red sticker meaning one can ride them the 3rd Wednesday in February...only. Just kidding, but it has some large chunks of time one cannot ride. Here are some pitbikes, but one of the lists includes that really promising 190cc GLV (Grom-like vehicle)! And might hint towards a 140cc version!!

I was living in fear of the red sticker but after speaking with someone who rides one, apparently the restrictions are only relevant in OHV parks and a few other state run areas. He said he rides USFS lands all year. I'll have to check into this more.

It would be nice to know what one can and cannot do with a 'Red' exactly. I find it interesting that Pitster is getting some bikes certified in California. As a side note, so far, the '36' Apollo bike has not shown up on any CARB list after 2018. It did appear that the street legal one was a go, but upon further examination, it was a green sticker bike (maybe red?). In actuality, if I was looking for a cheap offroad runabout for California, I would pay the extra (very nominal) and get the street version for the headlight and tailight. In the winter it gets dark early.

Wow! Never caught this treasure trove of Pitster Pro Red sticker certification from 2018!! Speaking of headlights and taillights, both the LXR (fuel-injected) and the XTRs come stock with full-lighting, like the Apollo '36'. My guess is that if you were to order a bike, you would ask and hope that Pitster sends you a 2018 model. At any rate, it is good to know that most Pitsters are California legal in some way or another (NOT street legal, sadly).

I bought one of the last LXR250 from Pitster Pro when they were running a close-out special on them. It's been a great bike. I wish they were still available.
