Wink Finally putting some miles on the BroZZ

So I finally got the bike all street legal. Took it out for a nice little cruise today. Still babying since the only miles previous were just up and down my alley. When can I expect to be able to rip on it and get it up there in rpms? I only have 60 miles so far. Also this is for Herbie, I got a 40 tooth rear sprocket and a 128 link chain. That's the setup your running right. Also some more details on the washer placement on the front sprocket please. I'm looking to tackle this job at the 100 mile mark.
Nice little cool down at the park. Also a picture of the sprocket.

I tried the 39 and 42 sprockets and didn’t like the major loss of torque out on the long hills where traffic is trying to flow at 50 etc. Let us know if you get good results!

100 miles seems to be the general rule of thumb break in period for everyone. You’re probably fine if it made it to 60 miles.

I love that blue, I talked to Jeffrey about a full plastics set and I may go that route, I'm kinda on the fence as I like my orange too.
Yes I'm running the 17f 40r sprockets and it works good for me. Although the fiddler I am I just put on a 35r and I'm going to try it out good tomorrow. I took a little ride with it yesterday and I hit 67mph in 4th gear but 5th only gave me 73mph, the same as the 40r sprocket. It doesn't seem to have enough push to go faster.
If you can wait until Sunday I will take some pics and give you more info on the washer, I will probably be removing the 35r sprocket anyway.

One tip I can give you on the rear sprocket. When installing the new sprocket put all 4 studs on the sprocket BEFORE you install it on the hub and lightly snug them. This way you can make sure the flats on the stud are seated where they are suppose to be then slide the sprocket over the hub and align the studs with the holes and slowly push it all in at once. Put the snap ring on and torque the studs all the way.

Thank you for all the input all this info is very helpful. I don't plan on doing the sprocket until I get my chain on Monday, so I will be able to see your pictures. For Sunday. I'm going to give the 40 rear. Tooth sprocket a go. And see if I like it. If I don't I may just up have to find a different ratio set up. Yes, I get a lot of compliments on the blue. So far i love the bike!

300 miles at an absolute minimum. 500 miles more realistically.

If your bike hasn't been modded at all you may not like the gearing change, I have done a few mods to my bike and I think that helps with the stronger pull it needs at higher rpm's.
I'm not sure the stock chain will work with the new 40r sprocket without taking a couple of links out, if your adjustment is all the way forward right now it may work but if it was me I would wait for the new chain in case you need to take a couple of links out. That way if you want to go back to stock you can just put your old sprocket and chain on and be on your way.

You can see what I did on the exhaust on the Brozz mods thread. But if I was doing it over I would probably take a different route. I removed the cat and reused the head pipe. That metal is cheap and difficult to make good welds with and I would probably just buy the ebay exhaust for $87 and change the muffler to a quieter but free flowing version. It costs more than what I had done but the metal is better quality and will last longer most likely. But I would wrap the exhaust all the way back just like I have done, I do like that look and the fact that it is a little cooler in temperature to the outside of it.

Harbor Freight has a crude looking, but effective tool to take out links on chains. I probably wouldn't have messed with the rear sprocket just yet. Bashan is actually one of the companies (I think Lifan is the only other as far as their past model GY-5 is concerned) to offer street friendly gearing from stock (46 I believe) vs. the 56 rear found on most Chinese dual-sports.

It starting raining AGAIN so I only got to ride about 45 minutes. I am going back to the 40r sprocket because the 35 just doesn't work for me. In the first 4 gears it works great but 5th gear is practically dead, any wind or heavy wind and my speed just continues to decline. The 40r works fantastic for my bike and I am going back to it. Here is a pic of what I said about getting the studs seated and ready to install the sprocket

This is what I did to shim my front sprocket inward to better align with the rear sprocket. The washer I used is a 5/8 flat washer that is exactly 1/8" thick. this is the thickest that it can be used and still get the lock ring on. Washers are not machined and vary in thickness, you will have to use a caliper to measure thickness, 1/8" or less will work nothing thicker. The OEM bolts will have to be changed as well because they are too short. The ones I used is about 5/8 inch length but 1/2' length will work as well.

Drilled holes, they don't have to be as large as mine, I just didn't do a very good job of centering the holes and had to drill out a little larger.
