Lifan Kp mini - shuts off after letting throttle go

Hello all!

I've read through this forum for advice in the past and am at a loss on this one.

So - carb was just cleaned, battery is good and tested. Idles good (goes up and down maybe 100rpm without throttle which I don't think is significant?).

Accelerates fine, doesn't need choke to run, doesnt die on idle. But if I'm going say 30mph and let go of the throttle and shift to neutral the bike will shut off and it is difficult to restart (it will after a few minutes, but usually it starts right away)....

Any ideas or past experiences? I've heard - try replacing spark plugs, try replacing fuel filter, check for vacuum leaks (which honestly I don't know how to do), check to make sure wiring is grounded (doubtful as it's happened before and after replacing the battery), orrrr a carb issue of it running too lean. It does have a good amount of seafoam in the tank currently but I wouldn't think it would cause this shut off...

Any ideas or order to check things would be appreciated! Thanks!

Check the valve lash and adjust them to specification. Or have you done this already?

I have not - I also have a very limited understanding of bikes so I'll need to youtube what a valve lash is.... Which I'm sure brings into the question of if I messed something up with the carb - it had this same problem at the end of last season too where it would turn off and that was before i had removed the carb. (bike only has 500 miles)

Some bikes come straight from the factory too tight. Or somewhat tight, and over the course of a few hundred miles, they tighten more. Some are loose. It is the luck of the draw. Caesar from Small Engine Velocity is a member here, and got numerous people into the KPMini from his videos. Here is a video about valve adjustment:

Thanks for the input! I'll give it a watch and see if it's something I can do
