how do you carry things on your DS?

Just thinking here, there is a thread on what you carry on yor bike... Now, here is one for how?

So far, I have had a crate (like from a grocery store, or milk crate) zap strapped to the rear rack and used that, and I have also simply used a tie down strap to strap an item to the rear rack. My dad has carried some sort of yard work tool (like an axe sort of), held down by bungie cords directly to the rack.

What I would like to do eventually, is find some sort of bags or something to carry stuff up on the sides of the tank.

I've seen a few things on here people use on there rear racks aswell, like scooter trunks.

I used a milk crate at first. Then one day when I was in Kmart, I saw a crate designed for hanging file folders in the office supplies section. It was slightly larger than the milk crate plus it was black (instead of the orange milk crate I had been using). I used that for the rest of last summer.

But I got tired of having to worry about what I left in the crate. Since I ride the bike to-from work most days, I wanted to be able to just stash my rain gear on the bike so I always have it.

So, this past weekend I installed a trunk from JC Whitney. I went with their "CUSTOM-STYLE TRAVEL TRUNK" for $69.99:

It fits great. It's lockable. Is easily removable with a key and has a carrying handle. My rain gear only takes up a little less than 1/2 the space so there's enough room left for a bag of groceries if need be.

My boyfriend gave me his smaller Wolfman tank bag, and I love it! Nice to have a place to throw the small stuff, loc-tite, tape, registration, etc. Plus it has a clear map pocket on top.

Backpack,
Holds my tools, water bottle/juice, energy food, jacket, wallet, keys, registration ect.

We have the JC Whitney trunks and then a cargo net for strapping boxes and stuff in front of the trunk on the back of the seat. Works great I have brought home as many as 3 med boxed home from the post office with the cargo net.

Some nice ways of carrying things there! I do use the backpack method when on my other bike, since I dont want to put bags on it... But I like this one, it is so useful to just strap something down or throw it in the crate on back...

the first time I crashed (real bad)I was wearing a back back with a jacket in it and a can of pop. I went over the bars and hit a rock wall. and that saved me from a broken back. now I go slower but still carry a jacket in that back pack

I'm sure it saved me becouse the atv was a write off(the can of pop was crushed flat). but I walked away :oops:

Edit, oh and my registration is carried in a sandwitch bag in my toolbag holder thing... though it looks pretty muddy now, atleast its only a copy..

Hey Jim,
I just typed in "Tank Bags" and found a bunch of them. This one is made by Fieldline and I think was around $12-13 bucks...

i have the same bag as ambassador, he helped me find one...

It is a great bag, holds every doodad i would normally be carrying in my pockets, plus you can even keep a drink in the drink holder section!

i am looking at the rear bag like polygonfla, his trunk and saddle bags look fantastic!
