BULL 200 Transmission

Hello,

Just received my new bull 200. I already have a Rhino...

Did the usual prep stuff... Filled/installed/charged battery
Checked tires and bolts.
Changed oil
Started, no problem.

Except, it won't move! Like the Trans in not engaging.
The electronic switches are registering, because I can see it changing from F-N-R on the display.

But mechanically, not engaging.
I hope I am going to feel real stupid and I am just missing something obvious.

So I have a bit more info....
I kept investigating and read some suggestions to change the trans oil.
I found another plug, and drained about 300ml of oil. That seemed about right from the manual for trans oil?

But now I can't figure out where to put in new oil.
There is a rubber plug on the side, but that is open to the bottom of the plastic housing so that can't be where you add the trans oil?

This has really got be stumped. Again, hope I am just being stupid!

If you are looking at the CVT cover the fill plug is all the way to the right. I think it is a 10mm bolt head.

Could you post a couple pictures with you gear linkage from the shifter to the transmission?

When you put it in gear and try to roll it, does it feel different than when it's in neutral?

I will take some pictures tomorrow.
But to answer your question, it doesn't "feel" like anything mechanical is happening when I shift. It still rolls exactly the same as when I am in neutral..
the actuation arm does move with the shift level, but it doesn't seem significant nor do I feel any engagement...

I am wondering if there is some adjustment I need to make to the bolts that connect the shifter to the trans. I am guessing you might be wondering the same thing based on your question.

Ok so makes sure that when you are shifting from neutral to drive or reverse that the lever going to the transmission is also moving.

Thanks Douglass, located the trans fill plug..

Your pictures look comparable to what I have.
I went out and carefully rolled back and forth in neutral, then F-R.
I can feel a difference. And I believe I can hear the gears turning.

I wonder if it anything todo with low trans oil upon receipt. Only about 250ml came out...

I have some gear oil on the way today, I will fill back up, and try again.

In one of my many attempts yesterday, it did "surge forward" at least once.
Does that suggest there is some adjustment I need to make on a clutch?

Still no dice after I re-filled trans oil.
Here is what I can report after further investigating...

The shift level appears to be working.
I took off the CVT cover to witness what is going on.

With the trans in F or R, when I roll the ATV, the outer cover of the clutch spins...

With the machine running, the belt and the variegater spin. So does the internal components of the clutch.

When reving in gear, it does not catch. The outside of the clutch never turns.
Interestingly, when I rock the unit back and forth while running in gear, the outside of the clutch turns, and the chain moves... But still never engages.

I don't own in impact gun, so I don't know if there is much more investigating I can do...

I got a call into the motosports place, so hopefully they will take care of me..

Any other ideas?

***Update****
I was able to get the ATV to move. I accidentally reved it quite alot. 3-4k RPM, and the bike will engage and move. It doesn't seem to tighten, so it only goes 6mph, and reving way to high.
Maybe this gets me ab bit closer to what is wrong. At least the mechanism is working, but not correctly.
Something todo with the weights or springs?

Well....

Although this is embarrassing, I am happy to report that in the end, I think this was just my unfamiliarity with this ATV.

When I really pushed the RPM, I realized the the machine moved as it should.
What threw me off was that I had to get to 5000 rpm for it to move.
With that small of an engine, it just didn't sound/feel right.
But as I drove around and increased throttle, I realized that it never would go above 5000, so the CVT was doing exactly what it should.

Thanks for your help and I'm glad it was just me being a NEWBIE that was the culprit.

Good news is that I learned a lot trying to diagnose the problem, even though none existed!

Think of it this way. You got fresh oil in there which is a good thing.

I probably would not have changed the trans oil so soon if this didn't happen.
