Really grinds my gears
Just wanted to vent and something that really grinds my gears:
So, I just got my first bike this week, I got it put together, had some issues, some of you guys helped me out, and finally got it all squared away and pretty. I want to test it, as you would, so I did a couple of loops in my neighborhood to make sure everything is as it should be before I load it up and go off to a park to do some riding, I need to make it's all good to go. My bike isn't even loud, my wife said lawn mowers are louder in my neighborhood, some old ass POS comes out and waves me over and starts to nag me about, "do you live in this neighborhood" - yes, sir I do, I pay my HOA just like you do, I just got this bike and I'm doing a test run. "Well did you know this is a public road, and I work for the department of transportation, I don't want to call the cops, but do you even have this thing registered." No sir, it's a dirt bike, I'm just testing it since I just got it. "Well you can't be riding if it's not registered on a public road, and this is a public road, and you can't ride up on the grass that's a public space and tear it all up and the speed limit is only 25 here and you were going really fast" Ok then, well I live here and I was just testing it. Thanks man. JESUS what a straight A-hole. Now all I want to do is go buy a dual sport or enduro now and get it registered and just ride up and down my street all damn day just to piss him off and he can't do anything. Some people just need to not exist. Rant over... I'm guessing some of you had some of the same experiences. |

I feel your pain. When I was a kid, our neighborhood was filled with guys like that....even though all the roads were private and not patrolled by the local cops. That gave the grumpy fathers the right to be the cops. I must admit, we rode 2 strokes with expansion chambers back then so yes, to the non-enthusiast, I'm sure it was quite irritating. I've even had rakes and shovels swung at me.
In your case, he stepped on your toes, not visa-versa. Tell him to f-off.

Some people just need a hobby! I would recommend to him running with knives (why bother with scissors) or chain saw juggling!

My uncle Dave would come running out of his house in his robe and slippers and try to knock us off the bike with a broom. He also had Randy (the neighborhood fat kid) string a steel cable across the trail which about cut my buddy Jeff's head off. He was a mean old SOB.

I seen the cable and seen it take Jeff off his DR350, so I just laid my YZ 80 down and slid underneath of it. My dad wanted to beat Dave's ass once he figured out what happened, but he also knew we had been tormenting the old man so..
