Hawk Milage

I filled my hawk full. reset trip to zero. Ran her hard on some dirt trails on some of this tank of gas. Flashing tank light started at 114 miles on the odometer. filled her up at 117 miles. Put in 2.40 gallons. Which is about 9.09L Cost me $6.59 ouch! That gives me about 48 miles to a gallon. My book says the tank holds 14L. I read somewhere the reserve is 1.78L of the 14L. Given what gas would theoretically be left in my tank at 117 miles that I could go at least another 30 miles.

That mileage sounds right for thrashing the bike around. I tend to get around 50mpg when I ride it hard or hit some trails.

I am still skeptical of their 14L rating for the tank. 14L is 3.7Gal. Even when it was brand new and the tank was more or less empty minus the half a gallon I put in it to ride it to the gas station, I only managed to get in 2.9X gallons, which roughly means it had about 3.4 gallons in it. That was with me filling to the very bottom of the filler neck in the tank. I guess if you filled it to the VERY top it might hold close to the 3.7 gallons it's stated to have, but I am never comfortable with a tank being that full.

I just filled my RAM 2500, $96.... My chevy 3500 has set me back $200+ on a fill up with dual 30 gal diesel when oil was silly priced. Double ouch.

That sounds about like what I get with my TT 250. I recently rode about 150 miles round trip and when I stopped for gas I had went 116.2 miles on 2.5 gallons of gas which gave me about 46.5 mph. The majority of the trip was 60-65 mph so I'm happy with the mileage that I got. I find it interesting that the tank on the Hawk is 3.7 gallons. The TT tank holds 2.9 and I've been looking for a larger capacity tank.

I would call the Hawk tank rating "optimistic." But it seems to be about half a gallon bigger than the TT250. I did a range test on my Hawk and filled it up full and rode it 202 miles before filling it back up with 3.32 gallons.

I have a fuel tracking app on my phone to suit my OCD lol. My Hawk averaged 63.4 mpg the last 3 months up until I had to put it away. Personal best of 71.6, and worst of 49.

I guess my $6.50 super unleaded for the Hawk isn't that bad after all!

If I made it to 150 miles on the tank Id be praying to find the next closest gas station.

I dunno... Maybe it's my obsessive nature in regards to carb tuning. I can't really blame it on taller gearing, because I know you have a rear wheel with road tires with a smaller rear sprocket on it too. I do know that around town I consistently can run at least 170 miles before my gauge hits that last fuel bar and the light starts flashing.

Could also be my riding habits I guess.
