Hey there, I live in Florida too, it's just a matter of drilling two holes in the license plate. No big deal!

I know! That was my plan. But 1st time I ever encountered such an issue. You'd think with slotted holes there should be no problem.

I run into this sometimes too. I usually just use some zip ties which holds them without any added work.

I used one screw and a piece of wire tie that came with the packaging.

Had I known then what I know now, I'd have used wire ties on both holes, or fabricated a mounting plate with plenty of rubber for vibration dampening because my plate broke just from vibration.

I wonder if this has happened to TaoTao riders in other states. If not, I would put the blame on Florida, making plates that do not conform to normal hole placement.

Is there room to drill or slot one or both holes on the plate itself?

the one on my orion 250L was too small. Screwed another piece of steel to it and drilled new holes for the plate.I never even considered that this kind of thing wasn't a standard size before this.

Me neither! Just like I didn't think I'd have trouble Registering the bike in FL as probably dozens if not hundreds of same exact one had been done before.

Not just the Toa bikes. The Hawk brackets are just a hair too big too. I used a Dremel with a strong and sanding drum to elongate the slots on mine about 1/8in each side.

Just don't use zip ties, as they are susceptible to UV light and become brittle and break when exposed to the sun.

When I was at a mom & pop cycle shop to have fork oil changed, bike lowered, and (hopefully, but not materialized rejetting of carb), I wanted to buy some little round license plate mount studs, they said I could have them free if I let them also mount a plastic plate cover advertising their shop. I said OK. While watching the tech doing that, I saw him using a drill. I assume he drilled a new hole in plate holder, even though I ALREADY drill extra hole s in the plate! Oh well...

Wisconsin plate does not fit 2021 TBR7 factory plate/reflector bracket. I've submitted the issue to Tao Motors engineering dept and expect a proposal to resolve the issue soon. In the mean time, I'm going to zip the factory reflector mounts off the ends of the bracket and drill two holes in the bracket that match my WI plate. If I have enough time, might even reach for a spay can of black paint to cover the bare edges created from cutting and drilling.
