Venom / Apollo 125cc Rear Brake Seizing / Adjustment

So, my daughter's new bike (Venom 125cc) is having the rear brake seize up.

I think she might be putting some pressure on the rear brake as she's riding (she's only been riding it for a few days). She doesn't think she is - BUT - the rear brake lever is very close to the foot peg.

1) How do you adjust the play in the lever so she has to press down more to engage it?

2) Can you purchase extended brake pedals?

3) Would it be seizing for any other reason?

You may have to adjust the play in the linkage at the master cylinder. If there's not enough play, the plunger will not fully return to relieve the pressure. I've had this happen on my Hawk 250. The pads will heat up then eventually lock up.

I note there is also a cam shaped piece for the brake lever as well as the threading into the master cylinder.

A quick You Tube search brought this one up. with out seeing exactly what you have i'm only guessing it's similar to most brake setups like the Hawk.

The adjuster rod usually doesn't thread into the master cylinder, as I recall, you have to hold the rod steady with a pair of pliers and adjust the clevis end up or down at the pedal end.
