GIO 110CC Rebel T1 (Oil plug with spring??)
Hi All, I tried searching the forms but can find my answer. I am sure this was asked before so I apologize in advance.
I was trying to change the oil in my son’s atv and did not pay attention that there could be 2 plugs under the engine. I opened the wrong one and a spring came out… Now I am not sure if I lost any pieces.. I was able to push it back in but I don’t know what that spring was for. (I also lost 2 or 3 ounce of oil). I have put it back in and changed the oil with the other plug. We have used it since but I cant get an awnser from Gio of what that plug was for and if there is a section in this engine that requires gear oil or trans oil for the semi-auto My questions: I saw a spring and a rounded cap on it; could I have lost a bearing or some other part? Was that plug for the semi-auto? What type of oil goes in there? Do I fill it from the top plastic plug (the one you can remove with a flat screwdriver)? I know this was a long post but thanks in advance |

Welcome!
The spring and cap you removed is the cam tensioner. If everything ran normally and sounded ok, don't worry about it. There is no filter in the 110. Cheers!

I've done this myself once and went, "Oh crap, I must've lost something!" As W&G said, I believe it's just the spring and the pipe thread plug that goes in there, as I've been running the unit mine launched out of there on for a year without any ramifications.
I would note though, it's not a good place to change the oil from. I've found it won't drain all the oil out. The other drain plug is the one to use! |

Thanks you for the info, the bike ran good since, I did change the oil using the other plug.
So this means there is no Transmision/Semi-Auto oil in there? The only oil that goes in there is 10w30 right? Thanks |

In terms of special oil, it's best to use four stroke motorcycle oil for the benefit of the wet clutch. Even if it's centrifugal, it's still wet on a 110.
It's cheap at Wal-Mart.

I think you'd be better with a designed motorcycle and ATV oil, usually in a 10/40. |

Hi folks,
First post as I have been searching for answers after doing exactly what Superdad did. I took it a step further....I put the tube and spring on my workbench only to return the next day and find the Spring AWOL. I also did not pay attention to what end of the tube goes in first... Black Cap side perhaps??? Can I insert the tube without the spring and go? Which end in first? I have a 50 cc quad. Thanks in advance. |

I believe the spring provides tension for the cam chain. You engine will self destruct without it.
You should be able to source one from honda. Just tell them you need one for an crf50. Allen

The bullet shaped piece goes in first, followed by the spring. As Kato says, the spring is easily available at any Honda dealer. You can point to any 50cc engine they have in a small dirt bike, and they should be able to help you.
