chain problems?

OK so today i went for my first ride after the accident(not on a bike) and went to buy a front sprocket.

I get to the place and i get one for an italika 150cc engine, 428chain 16t I know the shaft will fit just by looking $3 is all it costed!!!i also got a LED brakelight and some valve stem caps all for less then $6 Awesome place. Anyway. i go to my bike and try to fit it to the chain...its TO WIDE??? wtf. my current front sprocket has 428 stamped on it. so......Im lost. I also tried sprockets for honda CG125,Honda XR125,and a generic sprocket for 420 chain and none looked to be right.

Am i missing something here?!?!

If your new sprocket is too wide, I think it is probably a 520 sprocket. :? Can you post a photograph?

nope one of the sprockets that they had had 428 stamped on it too.I tried a 420 and it was narrow enough but the teeth were visibly too small.

I tried like 5 different ones.

If i take the new sprocket i should be able to mesh it with the chain even if the chain is stretched tight.....am I right or am i lost?

I don't like to be pessimistic but I wouldn't play around with sizes that much. All the power goes through that drive! You don't want chains jumping off and jamming at 50 mph. And usually I wouldn't change a sprocket without changing chain unless it was just a couple of thousand km.
