I have an 07 model of the same bike. Bought it new in 07. First advice is to disassemble the rear suspension linkage and grease it well. The bushings will wear out quickly if not lubed and replacements may be hard to find.

I have one, and I love it! Mine has been ridden over the mountains from Pocatello to Bonneville; epic trip.

Sounds like a good bike for the area. I love Northern Idaho, my wife has an aunt in Ponderay. We get up there every few years.
