Self destructing mirrors

I went for a fantastic ride on Saturday 204km non stop through the beautiful New Zealand countryside. It was hot out, over 28 C and I managed an 83 km/h average over the distance.
A really awesome ride and just what I needed after a really stressful week.
Only snag was about halfway I registered that the images in the mirrors were floaty. I reached over and touched the mirror to discover the glass was floating free. I pushed it back into the frame and checked the other mirror which was similarly detached and floating. The rest of the ride home was sprinkled with pushes on the mirrors to reattach them.
Anyone else had escapist mirrors or is this just a me issue?
