My XF200 doesn't have the gasket, just an O ring. I also had a bit of a time getting the cover off. I used a small hammer and just tapped around the outside of the cover until I worked it loose. I didn't want to use a screwdriver or pry anything, as the metal is very soft and gouges easily.

xp 200 oil filter cover

thanks for the help I did get the cover off by getting the engine real hot and using a razor blade, I did not hurt the o ring gasket that i could tell so I used the same one

I need to amend my above statement. :oops: I was changing the oil the other night and noticed that there IS in fact a paper-type gasket there, but it is metallic colored and seems to be bonded to the case, so I never noticed it before. I've changed the oil 4 or 5 times, and never noticed it, and never had it tear or peel off.
