Hey from Essex

Hey. Ive just bought a CPI SMX 50 on an 08 plate. It had 600 miles on the clock and had never been used in the wet, bought from my bosses brother who just didnt use it. Its dealer derestricted so pootles along at 50 no issues. Very happy with it and it looks great. Me and my lady had a car each and mine was used to commute to work each day and costing me £160 a month on fuel and insurance so decided to get the bike which costs NOTHING to run..

Anyone know what type of gearbox oil and how much of it I need to replace the old stuff?

Hi bud..

I'm trying to find out an answer for you but cant seem to find any info anywhere. I gather you're having the same problem.

Do you not have a user manual/service guide with all the level information in?

I'll keep looking in the mean time.

Culley..

It looks like an AM6 engine, 6 speed and watercooled. Same as the Aprilla rs50.

Something wet-clutch compatible that is suitable for the temperatures you ride in. 15W40 is a good all-year oil.

Does your bike separate the gearbox oil from the engine oil?

The motor oil capacity should be cast somewhere on the engine. I use commercial, diesel, 15W/40 engine oil in all my motorcycles. You might enjoy reading the following essays on motor oil.

Yeah, 2 stroke. I use the best oil I can for the engine ( not premix ) so the gearbox is isolated..

My 2004 Honda CRF250X also separates the gearbox oil from the engine oil. I just put 800ml of Mobil DelVac, 15W/40 in my Honda's gearbox.
