My oil did smell pretty strongly of fuel when drained so I'll send in a sample next time I drain it which will likely be early for peice of mind. I'm trail riding a lot and hoping of the bike leaving it running to grab pictures.

Hopefully its nothing serious. Average is 56 which still seems low for a 250. At least its not 36 like my Guzzi, but that one has a 8.5 gallon tank at least!

I am curious to discover why your used motor oil smells of fuel. Please do keep us updated.

Trail riding will definitely yield lower fuel mileage. Fuel mileage of 56 mpg is not excessively low for the type of riding you are doing. However, I still wonder why your used motor oil smells of fuel.

Ill keep this thread updated when I get the results from oil analysis.

It's probably nothing but I suspect the intakes being tight were causing excessive rich mixture and maybe some of the unburnt fumes/fuel made it to the oil. The "Camp Fire Tube" did collect quite a good sample last long ride.

The Valves are all .06mm so hopefully the next tank of fuel shows improvement. I do spend a lot of time trailriding this bike as it's a massive improvement over my larger Stelvio for that purpose (and the Stelvio would break a leg off if it fell on you!).

The bike runs excellent and sounds like it's breaking in well.

I'm collecting video of riding in loose sand right now. I just need my friend who has one to come along so we can share impressions from an experienced rider and new rider perspective. I'm sure we'll drop one of them at some point too

Winter is coming so I won't be riding much longer here in NY and I'll be dreaming of Spring too!

Keith where about in Maine? I grew up on Isle au Haut, a small island off the coast and part of Acadia. One room school house and only 50 year round residents when I was a kid. Pretty awesome childhood honestly!

Canada was so close to being able to welcome Maine as a Province! It was to be called New Ireland. http://news.nationalpost.com/news/ca...he-war-of-1812

Oh well.

That is a fascinating piece of history I never knew before. There was only one problem with the plan; the British lost the war.

This is fascinating. I've been to many of the old Forts around the border's and coastline but never knew we were so close to saying "eh"

You almost had some prime real estate!

A couple shots of Isle au Haut. I remember playing on this rock as a kid and swam in that pond countless times!

Lee

I am in Bridgton borders Fryeburg (home of the Fryeburg Fair), I work in Conway NH.

I head out to the coastal areas only in the off season. Most riding is done north and west of me.

I'm not overly concerned with MPG on chinese machines, though they tend to do better on that than most bikes.

I average ~65mpg on the NC700x which is rather unusual for a bike of that displacement. It's got a low-revving auto-style engine design.

Keith I agree with riding in NW Maine, more fun up there and less tourists to slow you down! NH and VT have some fine roads as well.

I just added another fill up and 55 MPG after the valve check. I guess that's what I'm getting for this bike haha. It's probably about 60 if I didn't ride any trails so that's not too terrible.

Yes Lee I have a people problem, so I stay away from them.

I might check air flow filter etc., also I wonder if there isca way to check fuel mapping
