Seems to be a lot of this going on now, like that Subaru/Scion model. Partnering up.....

Hate to say it but these kind of things have been going on for YEARS!!!

Subaru, Toyota, Lexus, Scion

Honda, Acura

Nissan, Infinity

Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Mitsubishi, Plymouth, Eagle, Peugeot, Citroen, Fiat, Lotus, Alfa Romeo, Range Rover, etc...

I could keep on listing "different car companies" that have several "Joint Venture" type builds... anyone want to guess by looking at my little list... on why the stock Jeeps are doing so well in the "Off Roading" department now (might be something to do with all that FIAT and Range Rover tech being used in the "Traction Control System")

Some of my favorite cars you can buy under several different names (Eclipse, Laser, Talon... 3000GT, Stealth)... looks are almost the same (badge, plastics, steering wheel, seats are slightly different)... power-train and the brain is always the same

We had this a few years back, due to the recession, with Suzuki and Kawasaki sharing a few bikes and quads. 2009 or '10?

I always like those bikes that are rebadges, for some reason, and are sold both under the manufacturer and a 'brand' that rebadges them. Hyosung and United Motors for instance, about 10 years back, and more recently, Hyosung and ATK, were selling a few of the same bikes a few years back. Zongshen's Sierra was sold as the Sierra, Vento, and Qlink all at the same time about 10 years ago. Skyteam's CT70 replica was/is sold as a few 'brands', although Pitster Pro might be the only one that has any left as new.

But, I do appreciate when 'big' brands do things like joint ventures, such as the Honda/Yamaha relationship. I was not aware that Yamaha had scooters made in Taiwan, but now it makes sense that they had the 2-stroke 50cc BWS as Taiwan seems to specialize in 2-stroke scooters. They dropped the 2-stroke and now use a 4-stroke.
