Hawk Assembly questions

I have the Hawk mostly together but have a couple of questions.

1. Where should the connection for the taillight/rear turn signals be routed? Mine ended up under the rear fender, exposed to everything that gets churned up from the back tire. Should it have made it to the tool-kit pocket under the seat? I didn't notice the wires until I finished fighting the under-seat insert into place.

2. Did your tank panel support arm actually match up to the bracket on the fork? The screw hole in the support is about 1" to the left and 1/2" too far back to line up with the bracket on the frame. I flipped it around several different ways, but it only got farther away.

**Disclaimer** I've been working nights this weekend and working on the Hawk a little in the mornings. These questions may answer themselves after a little sleep.

Thanks,
Bill

Good Morning, Bill. If you could post some pictures that would be a big help to get you pointed in the right direction. I routed my taillight wiring along the frame, and secured it out of the way with some zip ties. If I remember correctly, there is a small notch in the area where the plastics meet for the wiring to go through when you assemble the rear tail section. I also didn't have any problem with my cross-brace, that I can recall. Again, a picture would be a huge help. As you said, maybe it'll make more sense after a couple hours sleep and a cup of coffee.

My Hawk came with the rear fender installed. Are you also asking about the tank plastic shroud bracket?

I covered all my connections with heat shrink tubes and wrapped them with electrical tape then I zip tied them to the frame.

I stuffed the wires behind one of the panels and ran a zip tie through the tank panel support to sure it up. For the last couple of days I've killed the battery twice trying to get it running. I adjusted the valves today (they had no gap) and it fired right up.

Next, the clutch doesn't fully disengage so I need to adjust it once the bike cools.

I had rerouted my clutch cable so it wouldn't bind up.

That's definitely part of it. When I install my digital cluster I will reroute the clutch cable. I made enough room and adjustments to take it for a spin. So far it was just around the neighborhood and to the corner store for gas. Of course, it wasn't my corner store, or the next one, but was the one after that. I'll change the oil in the morning and take it out again.

WOW bill, sounds like you have had not such a smooth go of it . I'm glad you are getting the gremlins chased out of it.
