Lower fork protection/guards for non inverted forks
Anyone have any luck finding something that works?

That's what fork gaiters are for. Unfortunetley, Chinese fork gaiters are made of infieror rubber. But Japanese, English, Swedish, Italian, and Spanish fork gaiters last a long time....ARH

I think you're thinking about the rubber boots that protect the upper portion of the forks. I'm looking for the plastic half round covers for the lower half of the fork.

I don't recall ever seeing them for old school forks ,we certainly didn't run them back in the day even on very pricey fork legs .If you really want them ,how about cutting up an inner tube or a mountain bike tire and tie wrapping it to the lower legs .The point of the covers is to keep the chrome legs from rocks ,dents, pitting as that will ruin the seals in quick time ,on a standard set of fork bottoms ,the seals are at the top and it would take a hell of a lot of pounding to damage them .

There were once lower protectors for the older
enduro bikes way back when... PEs / ITs / XRs /KDXs not seen them since.... you must ride behind a lot of bikes tossing rocks up to need them or is it a bling thing.. .

Exactly! I was thinking of making them out of 2" pvc pipe and zip tying them on.

Haha... oh yeah, it's a bling thing.
I had an ossa 500 and a kx500, both were two strokers. If you were behind either one of those bikes you'd better have fork protectors, chest protect and ever other protector available because you'd kick up softball size rocks.... basicly root tillers. |

Can't remember the exact model because it was so many years ago, but I do remember someone saying something about it being a sand bike. It had a 21" front rim and an 18" rear which was unusual in the late 70s. It also had a down swept expansion chamber.
It was a scary fast bike. |
