Bashan Xplode 200

Just a couple of pictures of my Bashan Xplode 200cc
Bike was completely rebuilt by myself.
I use it as a weekend toy and run-around.

There was a long report on Horizonsunlimited of a guy from California who went to Africa on his old Suzuki DR650 with the intention of surfing as much as he could. Naturally, he made his way to S. Africa, where a friend of his from the UK met him. They didn't have the time to look for a used bike as the friend had to fly back to the UK for his job. I believe they were in Cape Town and their next destination was Zanzibar. The friend purchased a new XPlode (it might have been the 229cc engine). They were skeptical the bike would make it, but in the 6k miles, the only issue was the stock chain stretched too far, and since they took a rural route, did not have much luck finding a replacement chain, so the poor guy had to keep jumping off every several dozen miles (towards the end of the trip) to throw it back on. He bought a new chain, and sold the bike to a local bike dealer, and flew back to the UK. Both the author and the friend were quite impressed with how well the 'cheap Chinese bike' did. Since it was a locally branded XPlode, I thought you would be interested. The thread is looooooooooong, but I believe the title (also found on Advrider) was close to 'Round Africa with a surfboard' if you want to read it. It was very interesting keeping up, and plenty of beautiful photos, but it is loooooooooong.

If you scroll down this page (6), you will see where the Xplode comes into the story...

I hope your Xplode is not appropriately named.
We used to have an old Ford Explorer that we named the "Exploder".
I think it is still running.

Okay--this is the post where he sold the bike showing how stout it really was (other than the stock chain which experienced bikers would know to carry a spare in the first place--that and spark plugs and spare inner tubes!); 6000+ miles from Cape Town to Zanzibar on a stock, brand new XPlode (I did email the distributor for Bashan in S. Africa regarding the thread, and the guy who answered seemed like he appreciated it). Not sure if they ever used it in their promotional materials?
