Negotiating sounds like an option, I haggled the price of my car down to $4200 from $5000.

One more question, this dealer states that the 08 models have a balanced engine? Is that like an 08' only option? or would the 06 ones have it too

The 06 models did not have the balance shaft. It became available in later 07 so even some 07 did not.

The balance shaft would not be a deciding factor in a purchase for me. I would contact the American Lifan dealer in Macon. It is not that far of a drive from Jonesboro and he may have some 07 bikes leftover yet.

Sorry, I thought you were in Jonesboro. I am in the Dacula, area. Not too far from you. Let me know if you need any help.

If you can talk that seller down to a more reasonable price I would consider buying it local.

heh well if my parents would let me I was originally looking at a 250 ninja. But my dad says no street bikes period.. even though the ninja looks more like a moped :/

Ive seen a couple of old 90's honda/yamaha enduro bikes for like 2 grand. But I'd rather have a brand new bike that I could treat right and break in properly than someone else's bike (that is like 12 years old, and many miles)

I killed 2 engines in my EL250, which is the same engine as the Ninja. It ran great...right up until the cam chain fell apart...hehe

Luckily. I've mellowed a bit...so this machine will not be abused. Yea, tear up the expensive stuff and pamper the cheapy...kind of backwards, but live and learn.

My bike arrived today. They called me to schedule delivery and I decided to just drive over and have it loaded onto my truck. I still need to toss in the battery and install the front fender...and I'll likely spend most of my weekend making adjustments and such.

I put the bike together myself, but it wasn't an easy one man job. I had to use a few tricks to lift the bike out of my truck and then to raise it to install the wheels.

I sure wish these bikes had a center stand.

And I'm the one in Jonesboro...I'm sure that's where the confusion came from.

I'll post some pictures and more information tomorrow.

Good luck with your decision!

Thanks! that would help a lot. I'm not very mechanically inclined.. however my friend's dad does all the work on his car (ford expedition, so thats a LOT of work xD) such as replacing the timing belt etc.. so if I totally mess something up I could ask him for help.

The assembly is pretty straightforward, but some things would be easier with a helper.

My bike was assembled, but I took it apart and prepped everything before I started it.
