Ideal RPM range for RX3?

Hey all,

First day riding my RX3 and I was running it pretty consistently between 4-5,000 RPMs. Is this along the same lines as others? This seems very high compared to Japanese bikes, but I guess these have a higher red line tolerance. Please let me know your experiences, don't want to be pushing it too hard. Also noticed I really had to speed up to get into 6th gear (around 75-80kph). Does anyone have experience consistently riding in 6th gear, and did the bike seem to struggle?

Thanks!

The majority of 250s running through town will be turning those kinds of rpm. Anything on the highway, well, there's a reason that most small bikes don't have tachos, and I don't think it's just cost. I think you're probably lugging it if you're in 6th at those speeds, these motors need to be revved, same as a Honda 250 trying to go the same speeds.

This bike runs like most any other 250, they need RPM to make power. I run mine to red line on every single ride and cruise in town around 5k, and higher on the highway.

Power Band Sits At 6-8000 RPM

I'll echo what the others have said, you need to rev the engine for highway speeds (55-65 mph). You'll be running 6-8000 rpms most of the time, depending on what front and rear sprockets you have fitted (14T front & 44T rear are OEM on CSC RX3's). Don't worry about the engine, it's designed for it and is happy to rev this high all day long, without complaint; mine is approaching 16,000 miles without any problems.

I have done hours and hours and hours at 10,000 RPM. The only way to get highway speeds out of an RX3 is to dial up the RPMs. Longest day I did was 675 miles, and I would estimate that 95% of that was at wide open throttle and about 75 mph.
