Doesn't sound like valves to me, sounds like something is loose rattling due to vibration. Header pipe?

Just my $0.02 . . .
The top corner of the right side gas tank cover was vibrating / rattling in sync with the engine vibration on my bike. I temporarily slid some latex rubber hose under that corner and that stopped that vibration. Other plastic covers might be vibrating too. I also believe the float in the gas tank is rattling against the inside of the tank sometimes. Ear plugs might help eliminate unwanted vibration / rattles. I'm gonna try them next. |

I know this is an old thread, but that sounds like something metal vibrating in a circle. It's not valves. It's something directly attached to the engine ( maybe via the exhaust i.g. the muffler or the contents of the exhaust pipe(s) if they're are snug enough to transfer vibration.) My first guess would be the valve cover itself bouncing around on those three bolts. Or maybe that bulbous piece of aluminum covering whatever on left hand side of the engine with three 8mm bolts on it, or maybe the front sprocket cover below that. It's definitely not valves though.

After listening to it (I am definitely not the most experienced ear in this group) but my first thought is exhaust leak. I am curious if you find it.
