I got these ones.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07DW2FG6Q?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title A lot of reviews said they use them on their hawks so I figured maybe it would work with mine as well. It did not at all. If you put them on the way they are designed, you would have to cut off half of your clutch and brake lever. If you put them on a different way, it just doesn’t reach. If that makes sense.

here’s a picture. This is one way they don’t fit. You could make them fit by taking the end that presses against the very end of the handlebars and moving it out about 3 inches. (6cm?)
If you do that, they just barely clear the brake and clutch levers. With the brake and clutch levers touching them when released. but then there is nothing for them to attach to that far away from the handlebars. So these do not work with the xpect

So the issue the brake lever fouling correct? can the brake lever be mounted further down the bar for clearance...
The bark busters that mount into the bar ends are only as long as the end of the bar typically. If you cannot move the brake mount, the solutions are get aftermarket shorter levers or (cut off the ball nubs), use open end bark busters So your levers extending passed the bar will likely foul on any bark busters that are fixed end so trying to find cheap closed end bark busters that kick out passed the bar end might exist but i am not aware of any. You will also need to modify the throttle grip to prevent it grabbing on the bark buster sticking the throttle. |

well, none of that is what I wanted to hear. Lol
I was hoping somebody knew of some bark busters that actually fit the xpect. Definitely don’t want to do a whole bunch of work or buy new brake levers to try to get bark busters to fit. So I guess I will just not use them. The only bummer is when you drop the bike off road, You run a chance of breaking things.

Would these be helpful? About 1" shorter than stock, they say.

I appreciate the tip, but I’m not going to be getting into this like quagmire of replacing levers or cutting levers or things like that. Somebody should make a set that fits the bike. And I’ll buy those. to me that feels like wanting to put on a set of more off-road style tires, but then replacing the rim to fit your tire. You shouldn’t have to replace anything to put bark busters on. At least ones that fit the bike. But I appreciate the thought of putting the link in here. I just don’t think I want bark busters bad enough to do anything extra other than bolting them on.

long levers universal bark buster
My factory honda XL185 levers are also long.
Granted they are cable not hydraulic so don't have a reservoir in the way. So long levers can fit with the generic universal barkbusters. Its just a matter of moving the brake lever bracket on the handle bar for clearance. You would have to modify the throttle grip regardless with a close end bark buster... So DIY modification was always going to be required. |

but I think looking at yours, my brake levers are much longer. Looking at the picture of mine, the brake lever knob goes all the way out to the end of the handlebar. It looks like yours do not. They look much shorter than mine. Is that correct?

Since the levers would be covered by the bark busters, why not just cut the lever shorter? You don't need that knob or that much length. Personally I'd get the shorter levers I posted about, because they are also adjustable for finger reach.

The bark buster are pretty much universal.
You don't have to cut anything or get anything extra. Your Xpect has a disk brake master cylinder assembly just like this one The only thing you need to do is move the disk brake master cylinder assembly it is secured to the handlebar by two 8/100 mm bolts, lose them a bit and move it a bit far away from the bark buster until you have clearence. |

Sounds reasonable, except the brake cylinder will start going "down the hill" if I move it. Then the brake lever will stick up in the air above the handlebars.

Loosen the two bolts and give a try, is not like you are going to lose anything, maybe 3 mins of your time. |
