Living where I do, cars aren't really a problem, but we do have three road hazards here. Deer, turkey and bicycles. Fortunately only one of those has an attorney.

Speaking as sometimes one of those road hazards with access to an attorney, our common enemy is the cager. For all the same reasons.

Over the years I've had 4 motorcycle wrecks(not counting off road lay downs). In Texas in the 60's a dog ran into me on a dirt road, in the 60's I had a blowout and rammed a fence post with my knee, in Casper, Wy. in the 70's I had a lady do a left turn in front of me and I low sided the bike and my highway peg stuck through her door, and in Limon, CO. in the 70's a highway maintenance truck forced me off the highway. It took a few crashes, but I finally learned I'm invisible.

In my younger years I never had a car...I did get a Honda 90cc and that bike took me everywhere...rain or shine.... later I got a Honda 305cc and that was my main bike for well over 10 years I put on 1000 miles a month for 10 years on that bike but never had a wreck with it ....the closest I ever came to that was blowing a rear tire while just passing a diesel truck (18 wheeler) and I surfed it to the side of the road.... I could not let up off the throttle much as the diesel flew right up on me.... I hurd him hitting his jake brake as he seen me go sideways but I hung in there and rode it to a stop....
the last 10 miles home on a flat tire that was so soft it just flopped every revolution
was a very long trip .... and this was dark on the freeway and raining lightly...
I never bought a thin tire for that bike again.... turns out it was a 2 ply or 4 ply something like that.... and they got in trouble for selling such thin tires to the public !
.... but that 305 and I had many miles together with never a wreck....
by then I was very aware of how invisable a motorcycle can be.... so I drove like it
long before that idea became popular ! ....if you want to survive on the road on a motorcycle you have to drive defensively
..... I only got a car just before I got married....
.....
to this day I look for motorcycles on the road....and frequently am supprised at how close they can get before I see them..... and I look for them ! usually the light is the first thing you recognize.....
Although I've never been seriously injured on a bike I tried pirty hard a few times !
I've never wrecked a car or truck either.... I am to darn poor to buy another one ! LOL
.....
I do like to go fast though.... on a bike and lay into the corners and have a good ride
but there is a time and place for that..... and that is NOT in traffic ! or in neighborhoods
but when on back country roads when your approaching a car be extra careful because
many people are out for a sunday drive and can slam on the brakes right in front of you for no reason.....they didn't know you were there.... they didn't look but that is besides the point........
there is something to Loud pipes save lives.... but I hate loud pipes !... moderately loud......ok but certainly not whisper quiet...
.....
when I got my 1977 Triumph the first thing I did was take off the shorty mufflers and put on the vintage bullet type pipes... and it only calmed down the noise a little !
that bike is loud ! I'm thinking about putting in baffles ! LOL
.....it's one thing to have the car your near able to hear you when their radio is on....
but it's a whole nother thing to have the whole town hear you...that is just plane rude !
....
and when your out cruising the back roads having the time of your life just remember about that cow that broke out of it's pen and is hiding behind that bush your flying up on..... or a deer that tries to beat you across the road and starts late....
bad stuff can happen at any time and it doesn't have to involve a car.... a Deer can ruen your day or life real easily !
.....
Bob........
