zongshen engine 200cc quad (mad cat 200)

starts first time

runs on the choke if i rev it it back fires

let the choke of it dosnt idel (cuts off)

if i keep it going with plenty of revs it goes but back fires

any help would be great

i got a bit of info on how to set the carb up but it didnt work

OH its a new carb on it

sounds like a jet issue..

take the carb off, remove the bowl, and pull the jets.. let us know the sizes, who makes the carb...

What kind of information did you get and what have you done?

New carb from where?

How cold or hot is it outside? Have you tried to get it to run with your finger on the throttle until it got some heat in the motor?

take the needel out (of the throtle) and move the c clip up

carb came from ebay

ok it came from ebay but it is a mikuni 30mm carb ?

Spud,

Information is king here in order for us to help you.

The kind of carb (make, size) is helpful.

Have you adjusted the idle screw to increase rpm so you don't need to hold the throttle open on startup/warmup?

Have you adjusted your mixture (air/fuel) screw? If so? Where is it set?

'c' clip is only one factor is carb tuning.

the carb is "standard of japan, PZ30

i also have water cuming out of my exhaust

any help would be great

oh it runs ok on choke but dosnt run with out choke....

what did the listing say on the ebay page before you bought it ?

keihin and mikuni and a few other companys all make carbs labeled pz30.. 99% of us with these china quads run the mikuni pz30.. reason being its a bit better quality, runs standard mikuni jets and bolts right on up

as mr. t said, information is king here because we are not there.. if we where there we could prolly get it running just fine in under an hour. but since we are not there to help, we need as much information as we can get to work it out in our heads here..

when i bought it 3wks a go the fella said its a new carb on it

he showed me the old one but i didnt take it as he said it was scarp
