When you put it that way, I can't say I blame you.

It appears so. I've ridden it several hours pretty hard since the tape trick and no sign of a leak. I have new seals on the way for when it does leak I can replace them.

Doc, please consider doing a tutorial when you change the fork seals. You've done it many times, and I'm sure you can make it look easy.

I think I did a turorial when I changed them in the Yamaha XS400 last April or so. They are not too hard, but messy and it helps if you have the right tools. Snap ring pliers (inner style), a good prybar, Allen wrenches on 3/8 sockets, long reach is sometimes necessary, and an air (or electric I suppose) impact wrench. That is not always needed but usually very helpful.

If you can't find my tutorial, or if I didn't do one, I'll post it. Also check out Dansmc.com online course. That's where I learned!

Sorry Doc, I couldn't find it. I even looked at your KZ project to see if that might have been it. Can you point the way?

I plan to do a writeup, with photos, when I change the fork oil, fork seals, and dust wipers on my Zong. I'll be ordering the fork seals in the next few days.

Brother Dan is performing a wonderful service by hosting his website!

Brother Dan is also diligent to refer to the "Ultimate Shop Manual."

You beat me by two minutes, Doc! However, I did provide the extra link to the "Ultimate Shop Manual."

Of course, you have to use different methods for inverted forks; Brother Dan supplies information for conventional forks on his wonderful website.

I have never done inverted forks. I imagine it's the same but I don't know.

Driving the fork seals on an inverted, cartridge fork requires a different technique. You need to assemble the forks, and employ a seal driver, instead of driving the seals with a socket. Here are two great videos from Rocky Mountain ATV demonstrating the procedure!

Have I ever mentioned I love Rocky Mountain ATV?

RMATVM is excellent.

Great videos. I only skimmed them. Looks like a more involved process for sure. Doable though. You may need some special tools it seems.
