Experimenting on these bikes is all part of the fun. OK so in the photo you uploaded there are two vacuum ports. The one on the left that is hooked up should run upwards and just vent under the seat uncapped. If you plug it the idle is going to be off a bit especially when cold.

The one on the right that you have capped should go upwards to a Y under the seat, and to the charcoal canister from there.... I capped mine and the bike ran like garbage... Lots of stumbling and misfiring on decelleration. I the tried uncapping that port and running disconnected from the charcoal canister and it idled but died as soon as I rolled on the throttle.

I would reconnect the charcoal vacuum canister reset the idle mixture and then go from there. Let me know if you need the photo of the under seat view.

Thank you! I might just need to see how the lines are but I have them mostly intact. I drilled a couple holes in exhaust and blocked off that air injection, so I imagine I'd need to vent or plug whateve hose ran to that.

The hose for the air injection runs to the bottom/front side of the stock air box.

I posted this under Reviews earlier:

Hey guys I finally decided to do little review on my Xf 250. I uploaded it in 1080 but it looks pretty grainy on Youtube not sure why.

I saw this guy's reviews and thought they were a bit comical, especially the upgrade tutorial. Total Trailer Park Boys lol.

hahahah

i Fucking love trailer park boys lol. yea, i watched the review too and was cracking up. I'm watching yours right now, pretty good, thanks! I haven't had time to mess with my bike lately to see if routing those hoses will make it run better. If i put the charcoal canister back on, i might have to see how the lines are supposed to run on it. My house is a clusterfuck and have been working on it more lately. blah.

That one hose i was asking about that ran to the charcoal canister, he just has running down and disconnected, i believe. Also, which pod air filter did you use? What size opening?

I got a 45mm angled opening filter. It fits real nice and frees up a bunch of space the crappy stock filter was using. My stock filter had a tendancy to loosen and unseat allowing unfiltered air into the carb. This one will be way easier to inspect and clean too.

They must have changed it from Qlink. I'm apod filter guy and never had to change it. Big Uni-type filter inside the box too.

Success!

I finally got enough beer in me with nice enough weather and I worked on the 250 last night in the garage. I put the charcoal canister back on like you said, but basically the only line I had running to it is the 2nd line off the carb that i had capped off. I ran the other line just straight down in like the dudes hilarious video. lol Then I did some tweaking with the air/fuel screw and it seems to be dialed in decently now! I took it for a ride for a bit and had no issues with stalling or hestiation. in fact, it didn't die once! So im pretty happy. I need to contact the dealer to get a replacement certificate of origin for it so I can get it tagged. I'm gonna get that pod filter ordered and put my acerbis hardguards on. I'm ready to take this baby out and have some fun, but i also intend to commute to work on these nicer days when I take the long way through town. I could only get up to about 60 mph full out, but it seemed to have plenty of power in the other gears and the engine isn't broken in yet. I am thinking about that after market cluster a couple of you guys put in, if they aren't too much of a pain in the ass. That stock gauge cluster doesn't seem that accurate.

Glad to hear you got the bike dialed in better, but 60 seems a little slow even during break in period.

2LZ I think the SSR has the same filter as the Q. On mine the boot connecting the airbox to the carb would come loose where a wire band holds it on.

Dialed in

Maybe I can throw more fuel at it or go back up a jet size now that it wants to run right. lol

I didn't read back through everything but do you have the stock exhaust?
Also, I would suggest following the manual on break-in procedure, or at least close to it. Not that the bikes are identical but I saw a QLink XF200 grenade twice because the owner was addicted to wide open throttle out of the box. Cam bearings not broke in yet, swelled, grabbed the cam and the rest was history. Not a pretty picture at 9000 rpm.

Can you hang a pod on the SSR? I know on Q, the CV carb is supported on both ends. By the intake and by the fixed air box.

Never had that happen. It's seriously solid. I know our carbs are different. Mine's a Mikuni. Maybe it's hung different?
Not to hijack the thread, but did you get your registration from CA DMV yet? By some Depends prior to opening the letter.

I do have the stock exhaust I drilled the baffle out of. I am looking at a lextek system, but it's about 300 bucks. I didn't do any sustained wide open throttle, it was a couple quick pulls. The breakin says to keep it under 6k rpm.

Yea, that stupid wire band doesn't like to seat very well on the airbox. I think it's supported well enough from the clamp on the engine side to hold it in place. Has anyone else had issues with this?
