Picked up a backup camera.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/111380097025...84.m1439.l2649

Noticed that gulp has a rough idle. Will need to do some checking on things. No CEL yet.

I did fix a couple of vacuum leaks that cause the AC vents to not work.

Good deal! I've considered buying one for my trailer. Is it wired?

If you don't have a scanner, you need to get one. You probably have four O2 sensors in the truck, and one of them could have drifted to the point where the truck runs rough, but does not set a code. You can individually remove and test (and sometimes even restore) O2 sensors like in the following video. Be sure to clean the threads and apply anti-seize before re-installation.

I was thinking that something may be just about to set the light off. I don't have a scanner, but I believe the maintenance guy does.

The camera is wired. I may need a longer video cable.

Weld, my miss is getting worse. I think it may be a plug boot or a coil pack, but I don't have any codes. The one that was on the blow sparkplug is still on there. The mount is broken. I think it may be that one.

My van has 2 O2 sensors. It is a 1 ton so emissions exempt in many areas. I just found this info.
http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/51...t-come-on.html

I am going to order some new O2 sensors and probably a few coil packs and boots. I am hesistant to replace plugs.

Pic of my camera with Smurfs streaming in.

Bosch 02 sensors. $20 each shipping. $100 for a full set of coil packs with boots.

Weld. You have a scanner that you recommend? I think it is time to buy my own since we have 3 OBD2 vehicles now.

I use an Innova 1003c, but I was looking for a unit that is upgradeable online. There are many cheaper units out there, and you can also try this with an iPhone: http://gopointtech.com/products/ It actually allows you to see any info as you drive. Awesome.

Your camera monitor has inputs that will accept a different source? What kind of inputs?

Excellent price for Bosch sensors. The link you provided explains why 1 ton vehicles in my area were exempt from emissions testing.

The camera has RCA video inputs. I connected it to the netflix.

My boss has a code reader tool. I am going out to his place today so I may hook it up and see if any codes are stored.

I am really thinking that a coil pack is bad. It is pretty common on these. My Dad had 3 bad on his 5.4l.

Still going to replace those oxygen sensors.

At $20 each, why not? Especially for Bosch sensors.

My guess is the current ones are original. At least they don't look to bad to remove.

I bought two replacement coils on ebay. $15 shipped. I am sure they are made in China, but if they work they work. Still no CEL. We will be pulling the trailer with mowers later. Have about 50 mile round trip. That may be enough to set it off.

Also I don't know what people are whining about online. I can reach all the coils. Nice to be skinny sometimes.

The price is right, but expectations must be low with China coils. My Bro-in-Law has a cool Saab 93 Viggen with a coil pack, and the China version has been reported as a universal failure on every forum we researched.

In his case, we just had to dismantle the coil packs, stretch the stock springs and reassemble. Problem solved.

Reports on the ford forums are fairly positive. Will see.

I did get the backup camera working. Made a mount on the console that pivots. We can use it for a video monitor if I get a DVD player installed.

There was a switch on the dash that did nothing. Followed the wire under the hood and it was not connected to anything. Used it to power the camera system as it was already fused.

What do you suppose a lighted switch would be for? Fog lights?

I am thinking so. The wire was behind the radiator.
